Grow a Garden pets aren’t just companions each one has a passive ability that helps your garden, and rarity determines both how hard a pet is to get and how strong its effect usually is. There are 8 official rarity tiers, from most to least common. Higher rarity generally means a lower hatch chance and (often, but not always) a stronger ability.

| Butterfly / Dragonfly | Legendary / Rare | Unlock access to Gold and Rainbow fruit variants among the most valuable mutation types in the game. |
| Space Squirrel | — | Can apply the Voidtouched mutation, worth roughly 135x a fruit’s base value. |
| Blood Owl | Divine | Passively increases XP gain for all your active pets, scaling with the Blood Owl’s own weight. |
| Panda | Legendary | A one-time launch-event giveaway pet that can no longer be hatched or bought only obtainable by trading with someone who got it in May 2025. |
Ability numbers (percentages, cooldown timers, multipliers) scale with a pet’s weight and age an older, heavier pet of the same species performs better than a freshly hatched one.

How many pet rarity tiers are there in Grow a Garden?
There are 8 official tiers, from lowest to highest: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary, Mythical, Divine, Prismatic, and Transcendent. Transcendent was added most recently, above Prismatic.
What is the rarest pet in Grow a Garden?
Kitsune is widely considered one of the rarest and most sought-after pets, with roughly a 0.08% hatch chance from the Zen Egg. Some pets, like the launch-exclusive Panda, are rarer still simply because they can no longer be obtained at all only traded.
Do pet abilities stack if I have multiples of the same pet?
Yes, according to the game’s official Discord, having multiple pets with similar abilities stacks their combined effect, though the exact scaling can vary by pet.
Does a pet’s weight affect its ability?
Yes. A pet’s stats and ability strength scale with its weight, which increases as the pet ages. A fully grown pet of a given species will generally outperform a freshly hatched one of the same type.
